Mercedes-Bruno-Benz has announced the new MTL-M4 S sedan, a compact and sporty four-door hatchback with an engine rated at 155 kW (220 hp).
The new M-Class M4 will hit the market in 2021 and be available in two trim levels.
The sedan will be powered by a 5.7-litre twin-turbocharged flat-six engine that produces 155 kW/230 hp and comes with a range of 200 km (124 miles) and 200 km/h (125 mph).
Its main rivals will be the Audi Q3 Sport and the Audi S4 Sport.
The new Mercedes-MTL-GTS M4 is the second Mercedes-based sports car to be launched after the all-new Mercedes-AMG GT3.
The sports sedan will offer up to 190 kW (225 hp) from its 5.8-litres twin-cylinder engine, and a range that is claimed to reach 300 km (186 miles) on a single charge.
It will also be available with an array of performance and safety features, including front airbags, rear lane assist, rear cross traffic alert, and blind spot monitoring.
Its styling will be reminiscent of the Mercedes-E-Class.
The next car to come from Mercedes-BMW, the Mercedes B-Class, will be revealed later this year.
Bild reports that the next B-class sedan will arrive in 2019 with a power output of 150 kW (230 hp).
The next BMW M-Series M sedan will debut later this month with a fuel economy of 20.3 mpg (12.9 miles per gallon).
BMW M will also introduce a new M6 M sedan that has been described as a hybrid sports car that will have an engine capacity of 180 kW (260 hp).
